Children playing at Christmas partyTo help build a bridge during these special times, Families Helping Families hosts an annual Christmas Party, inviting children in foster care, relative placement, approved placement or who have been adopted through Iowa’s foster care system a chance to celebrate with Santa, songs and so much more!

Each year, thousands of Iowa children are placed in transitional housing or foster homes while their family works hard to bring them home.

During this time of transition, some siblings may find themselves separated, which can be especially difficult during the holidays.

Annual Christmas Party

With the support of local businesses and organizations, as well as our donors and sponsors, Families Helping Families is happy to provide a variety of activities and fun for our children and family guests.

Children get to have fun with face painting, crafts, games, activities, food and drinks and a visit with Santa himself!

Each registered child receives a special present when they visit Santa’s Workshop as well as all the festivities hosted by Families Helping Families. It’s a great way to celebrate families!

Who Qualifies?

The annual Christmas party is only available to children who are current in foster care or relative/approved placement by the Department of Human Services. It is also available for children who have been adopted from foster care.

Children must be between the ages of 1 and 18, and if the child is over 18, he or she must have been re-entered into foster care or a special needs basis.

Sponsor a Giving Tree

To help support the gift-giving fun at our Christmas party, local businesses and organizations are invited to participate in the Families Helping Families Giving Tree. If you or your organization is interested in hosting a Giving Tree, please contact us today for more information.
