To be a foster parent, it can take a village. At Families Helping Families of Iowa, we’re here to support foster parents and guardians on their journey. Below you’ll find several foster parent resources available to foster and adoptive parents throughout our Iowa communities.
Support Groups
Several support groups for Iowa foster, adoptive and kinship parents and guardians are available on a monthly basis. To view support groups in your area, please visit the Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parent Association.

- Junior League of Cedar Rapids – Assistance for youth aging out of foster care.
- Tanager Place – Mental health services.
- Tanager Place LGBTQ Youth Center – Provides a safe and confidential environment for LGBTQ youth, families and allies.
- Together We Achieve – Supports the basic needs by offering a food pantry and resource center to direct individuals in need.
