Haircuts for Kids
Going back to school is a big moment for any student, and at Families Helping Families, we help them prepare with our Haircuts for Kids program. We’re proud to offer a program that gives children a complimentary haircut by a professional stylist.
About Haircuts for Kids
Through grants with Families Helping Families of Iowa, we’re able to provide foster children with two complimentary haircuts a year — once at the Back to School Rally and once at another point in the school year — thanks to the time and goodwill from the professional salons and stylists who continue to support the mission of Families Helping Families of Iowa.
Foster parents and guardians can fill out our online application below, or stop by the Families Helping Families office for more information.
Who Qualifies for Haircuts for Kids?
Eligible children must be currently in foster care, relative placement or other approved placement by the Department of Human Services. Any child, from age 1 to 18, is eligible to participate in this great program. Children over 18 must have been re-entered into foster care or a special needs basis.
How Does Haircuts for Kids Work?
Funding is granted once per 12-month calendar year based on the date of the last approved application. Additional haircuts are also available at the Back to School Rally in August. All requests are subject to board approval and available funding. Families Helping Families has the right to reject applications as necessary.
