Shoe Voucher Program
Through a collaboration with the local Kiwanis Club of Cedar Rapids, children in foster care or relative placement are eligible to receive one new pair of shoes through the Families Helping Families Shoe Voucher Program.
Thanks to our sponsors, we were able to dedicate funds this program and provide shoes for children throughout the state. Only one pair of shoes per child is granted annually, and a voucher can be re-applied for every year.
Who Qualifies for the Shoe Voucher Program?
Children in foster care, relative placement or other approved placement by the Iowa Department of Human Services are qualified for the Shoe Voucher program. Children ages 1 to 18 are eligible, and any child over age 18 must have been re-entered in the foster care system or special needs basis. Children who have been adopted from foster care do not qualify for this program.
How Does the Shoe Voucher Work?
Families may receive funding once per 12-month calendar year, based on the date of approved application. Families and guardians are welcome to apply with our Shoe Voucher Application. All approvals are based on program fund balance and Families Helping Families of Iowa has the right to refuse funding to anyone.
The child must be adjudicated and be assigned a social worker to be eligible for funding.
Sports & Activity Footwear
If your child needs new shoes for sports or another activity, we can help. Through our Spread Your Wings activity scholarships, you can apply for sports and athletic footwear.
NOTICE: Due to the increased volume of shoe voucher requests, the application processing time is currently delayed. We will get your shoe voucher to you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Please note: Children who have been adopted from foster care do not qualify for this program.
